Perhaps you know the feeling: sometimes an idea stays in your head for weeks until it finally takes shape on the canvas. With my new painting, it was clear to me from the beginning that I wanted to show the deer in a very special dynamic. I consciously played with perspectives: while the deer's face looks directly at us in a powerful frontal view, exuding an incredible presence, its silhouette turns away in profile. This combination of a direct gaze and a silent side view shows the king of the forest in all his multifaceted power – as a proud protector who simultaneously surveys his surroundings attentively and with inner peace.
To emphasize this noble, dignified primal power of the deer, I surrounded it with bright marigolds (Calendula). For me, this is not a random combination, but a deep connection that I observe in nature every day as a TEM expert.
The deer embodies untamed wildness, pride, and a deep connection to the earth. But precisely this fiery, powerful energy needs a bright, healing counterpart, and I find that in the marigold. In Traditional European Medicine, the marigold is one of our most valuable healers. With its bright orange-yellow color, it captures pure sunlight throughout the summer. In TEM, we value it primarily for its enormous regenerative power: it has strong wound-healing, anti-inflammatory, and tissue-building effects. It cleanses, protects, and brings gentle, warming life energy to where something is weakened.
On the canvas, the portrait of the deer and the warm glow of the marigold merge into an inseparable unity. The gentle healing power of the plant lies like a protective cloak around the wild primal power of the animal. For me, this painting tells a very personal story about balance. It shows us that true strength is only complete when it is accompanied by healing, warmth, and gentleness. A powerful companion for your home that will daily remind you of your own inner strength and regeneration.
I would love for you to share your thoughts – I'm really looking forward to exchanging ideas with you!
All the best,
Marie-Louise
